School Life

Life at Tembalethu

What happens between the lessons matters just as much as what happens in them.

01

Academic Life

Matric is a five-year project

Study skills, timed writing and past-paper practice begin in Grade 8, not in Grade 12. Afternoon study is supervised four days a week and is compulsory for the senior phase.

02

Sport

Rugby, soccer, netball, athletics

The school fields teams in rugby, soccer, netball, cricket and athletics. Fixtures against Kokstad-area schools run through both winter and summer seasons.

03

Clubs and Societies

Beyond the timetable

Debating, chess, the science club, the media team and the environmental club meet weekly. Learners may propose a new society with a staff sponsor and ten members.

04

Learner Leadership

Prefects and the RCL

Grade 11 learners apply for prefect positions in the fourth term. The Representative Council of Learners is elected annually and runs its own budget for learner initiatives.
