About

About Tembalethu

Tembalethu Secondary School prepares young people for the National Senior Certificate and for life beyond it. Academic rigour, sport, culture and leadership are treated as one programme, not as competing interests.

Our History

From 1991 to today

Tembalethu Secondary School opened in 1991 to serve families in and around Kokstad. The school has grown to more than 1 100 learners across Grades 8 to 12 and has produced provincial sportsmen, nurses, teachers and engineers.

Leadership

How the school is run

The school is led by the Principal and two Deputy Principals, supported by heads of department for languages, mathematics and science, humanities, and commerce. The Representative Council of Learners sits with management each month.

School Policies

What we expect

The code of conduct, admissions policy, uniform policy and assessment policy are available for download and are explained to every new family at intake.

Message from the principal

Our matric results matter, but they are the outcome of something larger: learners who arrive on time, who prepare, and who carry themselves well. We ask families to hold us to that standard and to hold their children to it too.
